When: Saturday October 3, 2009 from 8am - Noon

A free service to Kewaunee County Residents
Farmers can dispose of up to 200 pounds of chemical and pesticides FREE!
Each household may bring up to and no more than a combination of liquid OR 50 pounds of solid hazardous waste for free disposal.
Unacceptable items: Compressed gas cylinders; Freon 11 and 12; Infectious and biological wastes; Fluorescent tubes; Explosives, ammunition and fireworks; Radioactives, including smoke alarms; Tires

What: Pharmaceutical Clean Sweep
When: September 19, 2009 from 9am to Noon
Where: Kewaunee County Highway Department - Highway 54
Accepted items: Expired or unwanted human prescriptions or over the counter pills, capsules, liquids, creams, ointments.
Put all pills in one baggie. Do not bring the bottles. Anything that is liquid, please keep in the original bottle.
Unaccepted items: Needles, syringes, aerosols/inhalers, chemo drugs, pet prescription medication, medication or medical waste from institutional/healthcare facilities.

Kewaunee County Emergency Management Director Lori Hucek was honored
recently at the 40th Annual Governor’s Conference on
Emergency Management and Homeland Security.
Hucek received her Emergency Management Professional
Certificate at the conference held
The
Wisconsin Division of Emergency Management established the voluntary
Emergency Management Professional Certification Program in October
of 1994. The program is
designed for the dedicated emergency practitioner who seeks
professional status and certification in the field of emergency
management. Successful
candidates have completed 52 hours of independent study course work,
240 hours of classroom activities, and 80 hours of study at the
Emergency Management Institute in
This program is open not only to county and municipal emergency managers, but can be completed by anyone at the state or local level who is interested in achieving this designation and holds, or would like to hold, an emergency management-related assignment.
Successful completion of this certification
reflects a commitment to developing the skills and knowledge
necessary to improve the quality of service that they provide to the
citizens of the communities they serve.
