2003 Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) Training

Kewaunee County has just about finalized a mass casualty plan for the county.  NWTC conducted three training and tabletop sessions with Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Dispatch, Luxemburg Fire and Rescue, Kewaunee Fire and Rescue and Algoma Fire and Rescue through a grant received by Kewaunee County Emergency Management.  The training concentrated mainly on the incident command structure.

Three different scenarios were presented and the emergency responders had to set up incident command according to the mass casualty plan.  The number of victims at the scene of an incident is what the Incident Commander will have to base the emergency response on.  There are four levels in the mass casualty plan.  The first level is responding to 5-9 patients, second level is 10-15 patients, third level is 16-25 patients and fourth level is over 25 patients
