Animal Issues

When people are exposed to sick animals it can become a public health concern.  Some species of animals are known to have high rates of carrying communicable diseases, and all contact should be avoided.  Bats and rodents are a good example of this.

Bats If you have been in the same room with a bat, OR had physical contact with a bat, call Kewaunee County Public Health during regular business hours.

Dog bites should be reported immediately to the Kewaunee County Sheriff department at 388-3100

Dead birds – a single dead bird may be submitted for west nile virus testing.  Call 1-800 -433-1610 For more information on how to do this.

To report multiple dead birds without a known cause, call the Kewaunee County Public Health Department(?  During regular business hours?).

For animal health issues, call your local veterinarian.
