Nonresidents 

Acceptable forms of identification for nonresidents:

Nonresidents are required to provide identification showing the applicant's name and address prior to purchasing a license.  The first time a nonresident purchases a license, they will be assigned a unique customer number.

Wisconsin Residents

Acceptable forms of identification to verify residency:

*NOTE* A previous year license (alone) is not an acceptable form of identification.  Acceptable forms include:

1. Valid Wisconsin's driver license (or letter of revocation or suspension)

2. Wisconsin Department of Transportation identification card

3. Current document verifying name and address

• Wisconsin Income Tax Return

• Wisconsin safety education cards

• Payroll stub

• Car registration

• Union card
