What are the benefits for participants who enroll in WIC?
Many people do not know all of the wonderful services that WIC provides!
Once on the program, participants receive one-on-one confidential nutritional counseling with a registered dietitian. The WIC program also has a lactation specialist and nursing services involved. This counseling is designed to meet individual needs and address any questions or concerns that a participant may have. The WIC program also provides free iron and lead testing, along with frequent anthropometric measurements of the participant. WIC then provides a nutritious food package tailored to the individual’s need. Standard foods include; milk, cheese, 100% juice, iron-fortified cereal, peanut butter, beans, infant formula, and much more. Foods high in nutritional value are selected for the participant to help prevent or correct nutritional and medical problems.
