Kewaunee County Offers FREE Skin Cancer Screening
KEWAUNEE COUNTY, WI – Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States, and the Kewaunee County Public Health Department is partnering with Prevea Health to increase awareness in the community.
FREE skin cancer screenings are being offered to the public on Saturday, April 4th at the Prevea Luxemburg Health Center, 101 School Creek Trail, Luxemburg starting at 9AM.
Medical professionals will be offering spot checks, discussing the signs of skin cancer and sharing advice on how to protect your skin.
“It only takes one blistering sunburn during childhood or adolescence to nearly double a person’s chance of developing melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, later in life,” said Cindy Kinnard, RN, Director of Kewaunee County Public Health Department. “The single best way to protect yourself is to use sunscreen any time that you are outdoors.”
Medical professionals have screened more than 100 people for skin cancer during past clinics, referring some participants to seek further evaluation.
The skin cancer screening is open to ALL age groups. To register and schedule an appointment, call the Kewaunee County Public Health Department at (920) 388-7160.
