We encourage parents and guardians to make sure their children are up to date on all recommended immunizations. If your child needs vaccines, please schedule an appointment as soon as possible. To check your child’s immunization status, you may contact the Kewaunee County Public Health Department, your health care provider, or visit the Wisconsin Immunization Registry website to review your child’s immunization record.
School and Day Care Requirements: Wisconsin law requires that children in licensed day care centers and students through grade 12 be vaccinated according to their age and grade level. For information on the recent changes to the Wisconsin immunization law, check out the School Immunization Law.
Free immunizations are available to children up to age 18 who meet the following eligibility requirements under the Wisconsin Immunization Schedule:
- Badgercare or Medicaid, or
- Have no health insurance, or
- Whose health insurance does not cover vaccines, or
- Those of American Indian or Native Alaskan descent
- No health insurance, or
- Whose health insurance does not cover vaccines, or
- Those of American Indian or Native Alaskan descent

The Kewaunee County Public Health Department is no longer allowed to vaccinate individuals whose private health insurance provides vaccine coverage, regardless of co-pay or deductible.
