Nature: Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager to provide general building and facility cleaning. Responsible for ensuring that assigned areas are clean and orderly. The work performed is of a recurring nature, but could include specific instruction or new or unusual assignment.
Example of Duties:
Sweep and mop floors, halls, offices, and stairways.
Strip and wax floors, buff floors.
Vacuum and shampoo carpeting.
Operate floor equipment, floor scrubbing machines, rug shampooing machine, and wet and dry vacuums etc.
Cleans and sanitizes drinking fountain and restrooms, replacing toweling and other supplies as needed.
Washes windows, doors and mirrors.
Cleans lights and light fixtures
Dusts and cleans cabinets, blinds, and counter tops.
Empty and clean waste and recycling receptacles.
Wipe down stairway, handrails and elevator panels as needed.
Keeps all areas stocked with supplies, toilet paper, towels, soap, etc. and write up supply orders as needed.
Vacuum furniture upholstery.

Essential Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to read; comprehend, follow oral and written instructions, and communication both verbally and in writing.
Knowledge of cleaning practices, supplies and equipment and the ability to use them economically and efficiently; ability to determine cleaning procedures, materials and equipment used. Ability to work in harmony with others. Able to complete physically manual labor involving lifting, carrying and pushing cleaning equipment. Ability to work independently and adjust to different situations.
Possess common sense and be dependable in terms of attendance and completing work assignments in a timely and quality fashion.
Be able to work with limited supervision and be able to make decisions concerning work priorities.
Training and ExperienceThe ability to read and write and perform basic math functions is required. High School Diploma or GED Preferred. Three to six months of previous experience is desired to provide required qualifications.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 lbs.
While performing the duties of this job the employee may work in environments with minor discomfort from temperature, dust, noise and wetness. Use of cleaning chemicals and doing physical labor are sources of potential injury. Working safely is essential to reduce the opportunity/occurrence of injury. The employee may work in areas with security measures in place.
