Zoological Society of Kewaunee County Fundraising to Add Expansive
Pheasant Exhibit at Bruemmer Park Zoo

KEWAUNEE, WI – The Zoological Society of Kewaunee County has been challenged to raise $100,000 to add a large ornamental pheasant exhibit at Bruemmer Park Zoo.

The non-profit group will be hosting a fundraiser on Saturday, June 5th at the zoo, E4280 CTH F, Kewaunee, which includes serving up burgers, brats, booyah and ice cream from 11AM-2PM. Admission is FREE and donations are welcome.

This $100,000 challenge is part of a matching donation from Steve Bruemmer, grandson of Leo Bruemmer and great-nephew of Otto Bruemmer, the sons of Kewaunee County Judge Louis Bruemmer, whom Bruemmer Park was named in honor of in 1930.

Mr. Bruemmer’s donation has already been matched by Kewaunee County after receiving approval from the Kewaunee County Board of Supervisors in February, and if the Zoological Society is also able to come forward with $100,000, the grand total of the exhibit budget will be $300,000.

“The overall budget would allow us to build an expansive open-air shelter exhibit with plans to include many different species of pheasant,” said Dave Myers, Kewaunee County Promotion & Recreation Director. “Bruemmer Park Zoo is popular amongst visitors both local and regional, and an attraction like this is something that’ll help us continue to grow and add even more unique exhibits.”

“We are very thankful for our donors who have recognized how special Bruemmer Park Zoo is and the potential that we have to expand,” said Pam Zander, Zoological Society of Kewaunee County President. “We’ve come a long way, we took the time to upgrade our current exhibits, and now by adding this new exhibit, which is something that hasn’t been done at the zoo in decades, it’s an indicator that we’re headed in the right direction.”

Ideally, the Kewaunee County Promotion & Recreation Department and the Zoological Society of Kewaunee County would like to break ground on the new exhibit in fall.

If you would like to donate, please visit www.bruemmerparkzoo.com or mail a check to Zoological Society of Kewaunee County to E4280 CTH F, Kewaunee, WI 54216.
