Plant a Row for the Hungry - Local Gardeners Can Help

As gardening season approaches, the Kewaunee County Food Pantry wants to share a simple way our community can make a real difference.

The Plant a Row program encourages gardeners to grow a little extra produce and donate it to local food pantries. Fresh vegetables like tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, beans and lettuce are incredibly valuable to the families we serve.

Fresh produce is one of the hardest items for food pantries to source consistently, yet it’s one of the healthiest options for our neighbors in need.

In Kewaunee County, over 1,300 residents rely on FoodShare, and roughly 1/3 of local students receive free or reduced-price school meals. With food costs rising, many families are feeling the pressure.

If you’re planning a garden this year, consider planting an extra row to share.

Where to Donate Produce:

No garden space? You can still help.
Local pantries are purchasing fresh produce in bulk at wholesale prices to stretch donations further.

$9 buys a 50-lb bag of potatoes or onions
$20 buys a 50-lb bag of carrots

Every little bit helps bring healthy, fresh food to families in our community.

Thank you to everyone who helps support our neighbors.
