Kewaunee County to Host “Clean Sweep” Collection for Residents
KEWAUNEE COUNTY, WI – Kewaunee County Emergency Management has opened “Clean Sweep” registration for County residents, farmers, and ag businesses looking to properly dispose of unwanted chemicals, pesticides, household wastes, dry medications, opioids, sharps and more in an environmentally safe manner, either at no or little cost.
The event will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at the Kewaunee County Hillside Highway Shop, E2180 STH 54, Casco from 8AM-NOON.
Residents are asked to sign-up with Kewaunee County Emergency Management before Wednesday, October 27, 2021 over the phone by calling (920) 845-9701 or online by visiting Emergency Management - Clean Sweep on the Kewaunee County website at https://www.kewauneeco.org/departments/emergency-management/clean-sweep/.
For safety reasons, those bringing items will be asked to stay in their vehicles during drop-off, and staff who will be wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) will handle the collection of items. All items should be placed in a car trunk, rear compartment of a SUV with the 2nd row of seats up or in the bed of a pickup truck.
“‘Clean Sweep’ is an opportunity to encourage proper disposal of hazardous waste. It’s a community service that aims to educate and help the environment,” said Tracy Nollenberg, Director of Kewaunee County Emergency Management.
This service is made possible with grants received from the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection as well as funding from Kewaunee County Families and Communities Encouraging Success (F.A.C.E.S.).
