Kewaunee County Residents Utilize Hazardous Waste Collection

KEWAUNEE, WI – Kewaunee County Emergency Management Department collected approximately 7,150 pounds of hazardous waste during “2020 Clean Sweep”.

More than 110 residents from across Kewaunee County came to properly dispose of unwanted agricultural and household hazardous waste as well as ammunition, fire extinguishers, medications, opioids, sharps and more for FREE upon qualification on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at the Kewaunee County Hillside Highway Shop in Casco.

Residents were able to drive up as staff and volunteers unloaded items from their vehicles as well as passed along informational materials on proper disposal methods.

“It is great to see that our residents are looking for proper disposal methods of agricultural and household hazardous waste verses just throwing their unwanted items in the trash when some of them can be recycled,” said Tracy Nollenberg, Director of Kewaunee County Emergency Management. “We hope to continue making this service available for residents in the years to come in an effort to better the environment.”

This service is made possible with grants received from the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection as well as funding from Kewaunee County Families and Communities Encouraging Success (F.A.C.E.S.).
