Tavern League Donates to Kewaunee County Veterans Relief Fund
KEWAUNEE, WI – The Kewaunee County Veteran Service Commission has been surprised with a generous donation by the Kewaunee County - Tavern League of Wisconsin (KCTL) for its Veterans Relief Fund.
The Tavern League presented a check for the fund in the amount of $1,500 at the September Veterans Committee meeting to the Veteran Service Commission. The money was raised at the KCTL’s 25th Annual Golf Outing at Royal Scot Golf Course, where American Legion Posts 29, 262 and 538 provided veteran support and Color Guard.
“We as an organization realize times are extremely hard with many fundraisers being cancelled due to COVID-19, and this is our small contribution to help the veterans out,” said Judy Vandenhouten, President, Kewaunee County - Tavern League of Wisconsin. “We also wanted to do something special since it was our 25th year for the golf outing.”
The Veterans Relief Fund helps with basic needs like doctor bills, rent, energy assistance, clothing, gas and groceries to help assist veterans and their families who are in need.
“During this time of uncertainty, it is great to see an organization bring community involvement to raise money that will assist our local veterans and their families,” said Robert Stearns, Kewaunee County Veterans Service Officer.
