Back to School Program Registration Underway for Kewaunee County Residents

KEWAUNEE, WI – The Kewaunee County Public Health Department is now accepting completed registration forms for its annual Back to School Program, which helps provide some of the required school supplies for approximately 300 children each year.

The families who qualify for assistance are those on WIC, Food Share or Badger Care, as well as, those who partake in the free or reduced breakfast or lunch programs or have found themselves in an emergency situation.

Families with students attending public or parochial schools who are in grades 4K-High School or those who are home schooled may pick up a registration form at the Kewaunee County Public Health Department, 810 Lincoln Street, Kewaunee; Algoma Public Library, 406 Fremont Street, Algoma; Kewaunee Public Library, 822 Juneau Street, Kewaunee; Nicolet National Bank, 210 Center Drive, Luxemburg; print one off from the Kewaunee County website at www.kewauneeco.org under Events & Programs on the Public Health Department page; or call the Health Department for a form to be mailed.

The deadline to turn in registration forms in person or by mail back to the Kewaunee County Public Health Department is Monday, August 1, 2022. Those who meet the registration deadline will be first to pick up supplies. Forms received after the deadline will still be accepted, but those families will be assigned a later supply pick up time. A postcard notifying registrants of their assigned time will be mailed out about a week before the event. NO phone registrations are being accepted.

School supplies will be distributed on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at Lakehaven Hall, 96 Ellis Street, Kewaunee between 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Those who are not registered but still qualify, may come to Lakehaven Hall on distribution day from 4:30-5:00 p.m.

“The smiling faces at pick-up tell us that the Back to School Program really makes a difference for families who otherwise may have difficulty affording all of the required school supplies for their child or children, and we are so appreciative of the community support that we have to keep this program running each year, which includes the Board of the Lakehaven Hall for their generous donation of the space to hold our program,” said Cindy Kinnard, RN, Director of Kewaunee County Public Health Department.

Those who would like to help the Back to School Program, may do so in several ways with either a financial or supply donation before Monday, August 8, 2022.
