1. PROJECT PURPOSE AND TIMELINE
The purpose of the project is to resurface both County Trunk Highway (CTH) AB and CTH A. The riding surface on both roadways is in poor condition and at the end of its useful life.
The general contractor for the project is Dorner, Inc., Luxemburg, Wisconsin. The paving will be completed by Northeast Asphalt from Green Bay.
The project will entail milling off 3-Inches of the existing asphalt surface on both of the roadways and resurfacing with new asphalt pavement. The block on CTH AB between Robin Lane and Church Road will be regraded to create a crown in the road to improve the drainage in the area. Additionally, damaged sections of curb and gutter will be replaced.
This resurfacing project is a continuation of the underground utility project that is currently being conducted in the area of Hickory and Walnut Streets.
Weather permitting, the curb and gutter replacement areas will be completed the week of May 10 and the resurfacing portion of the project is expected to begin around May 17 and be completed in the beginning of June.
2. TRAFFIC CONTROL AND LOCAL ACCESS
The contractor is required to maintain one lane of traffic in both directions on CTH AB and on CTH A during construction. Certain operations may require one lane to be temporarily closed with the use of flagmen.
Notice will be given to property owners prior to any temporary driveway closures. We ask that you do not drive on any new concrete until the contractor has removed their barriers.
Prior to or during construction, please notify the engineer, contractor, County or Village staff if you have a mobility issue, and they will do their best to make accommodations.
5. WORK ZONE LIMITS
No additional right-of-way will be acquired for the reconstruction. All work will take place within existing rights-of-way with the exception of final surface restorations, which may require access to your property.
Some lawn areas behind the roadway right-of-way may be disrupted but will be restored to blend into the existing lawn grades.
Some driveways may require removal, which will be verified by REL and County personnel at the time of construction. Driveways and other pavements that require replacement will be replaced with the same material that currently exists.
The resurfacing project will be funded through a Local Roads Improvement Program (LRIP) grant and Kewaunee County funds. There will not be any assessments or charges to the property owners along the streets.
